Mei Yin's second Kuching Trip

20 - 24 March 2008

21-3 2008 Our first morning in Kuching. We arrived this City late last night and stay in  a budget hotel in Jalan Green Hill.  After breakfast we took a morning stroll along Kuching Water Front and visited this Chinese Museum.

Inside the Museum some mentioninf of the Hakka women :

"The term "Hakka" ("Khek" in Hokkien or Teochew) means "guest;- visitors". It is not associated with any district or territorial claims but was probably given by others and accepted by this dialect group when migration had forced the Hakka to take up land re- moved from settled centres of population, and they were often considered as unwelcome newcomers. As their women had to trudge and work alongside their men, they could not afford the luxury of having bound feet. This unbinding of Hakka women's feet and the high status they held in their own society later became recognised as one of the cultural characteristics of the Hakkas..........."

The Spring Mall - Largest shopping Mall in SARAWAK

The Spring Shopping Mall  in Kuching is the biggest shopping mall in Sarawak opened to public only 3 months ago on 10th January 2008.

In this  gigantic shopping mall we enjoy some time in Kuching, Sarawak in this  2-storey mall with 150 retail outlets, a gourmet supermarket, an excellent food court.

A fun filled corner for the children in The Spring Mall of Kuching

For Yin, largest shopping mall means an exciting playground for her where children run, jump and cavort on slide.

Multi-colored climbing frames over rubber mats, safety surfacing made this playground more exciting for children. The colored rubber surfacing has added to the play value of the ground.
