24-11-2006    Friday  - A day in KLCC

We have Chinese breakfast in Petaling Street. It is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel.  This food stall is famous for porridge, but we decided to try their 'Chiong-Fan' with their special source. Most old Chinese love this Cantonese food.

Petronas Twin Tower

Kuala Lumpur's most imposing site - the Petronas Twin Tower is currently the world's tallest two freestanding towers (but not the tallest single tower).

This 88-storey twin tower soars to  height of 452 meters. This gleaming architectural delight inspired by the Five Pillars of Islam is the centerpiece of the ultra-modern Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC)

The retail centre located within the twin towers has become a major shopping destination among the local and tourists.

This famous landmark of Malaysia's pride was completed in 1998.

10:00 AM We reached KLCC. Xing and I wanted to go up to SkyBridge at Petronas Towers but unsuccessful.

The sky bridge is opened to visitors between 8.30am - 5.00pm every Tuesday to Sunday. We wanted to start today with a visit to the SKY BRIDGE, but when we reach the Sky Bridge entrance counter, the staff said all entrance ticket for the day has been given out.  No opportunity to step foot on the highest bridge this time. Perhaps the next trip when we come again.

To get a entrance ticket (free) one have to reach the entrance counter early. On weekends one has to be there as early as 7.30am to be sure of getting a  tickets for the sky bridge at the Petronas Twin Towers as they are limited.

I was up there in 2002 when I came to KL for a one week training course. I came early then. The view was good despite it being a miserable raining cloudy day. This formally  worlds tallest towers stand at  450 meters (88 levels).

The visit to the sky bridge starts with 3D film about the building before heading up to level 41.The super fast lift travels at one floor per second, so it took 40 over seconds from ground to the Sky bridge. The bridge has two levels. The upper laver is reserved for the staff  working in the towers.

We spend the whole day in KLCC Kuala Lumpur City Centre today.  Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), "city within a city", this 40 hectare (100-acre) site includes the KLCC park and PETRONAS Twin Towers. Suria KLCC is located at the feet of the 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers. There are 6 levels of retail outlets with each level of a distinctive character and style. It is a vast complex with a broad choice of over 250 specialty shops and numerous cafes and restaurants.

Clean air, calm water, green land and abundant plants - an ideal place for meditation and reflection.  KLCC is not only for the material body but also for the spiritual and pure minds.  KLCC received the “National Landscape Award 2001”.
An Indian tourist at KLCC (with Xing, my son). - KLCC is a gathering place for people from East and West.  There is a  large number of tourists from Indian and Arabic Countries.  Amont the Indian visitors we meet this morning is this Holy man with his family members of  about 10 both young and old.  He came from Hyderabad.   Most of the Indian tourists we met are from Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Kuala Lumpur City Centre Park. Two acre modern kid's playground, wading pools, a musical fountain, artificial lake, sculptures, plenty of grass and shade trees. The calm natural park environment provide green open public space in a concrete jungle, its abundant plant species encourage bio-diversity and act as a haven for birds and fauna.

For my son as a student,  a trip to KLCC won't be complete without a visit to Kinokuniya, the largest bookstore in Malaysia. KINOKUNIYA BOOK STORES has a branch store on Level 4 of Suria KLCC. Kinokuniya is one of the largest in Malaysia.  After lunch we came here. From 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm we spent 1.5 hours inside this large book shop. Book shop of this size can not be found in Sabah where we came from.

KINOKUNIYA BOOK STORE - This Japanese bookstore is attractive to both of us.

There is special place in the store that you'll just want to carry a book and read beside a panel with this great view. See photo below. This view from the book shop at 4th floor - you get a whole view of the park at KLCC.

Top Right Corner - Children swimming pool

On the Right of photo - Lake Symphony is programmed to provide 150 colorful, magical and dramatic animations. The total effect is a lighthearted and gregarious atmosphere. The fountain would be most captivating during sunset and against the night sky. The calming effects of the colorfully lit water features is not only soothing and relaxing to the mind but is something that parks in Kuala Lumpur have not seen before.

Top Left distance corner which can not be seen fully is the mosque

On the Left of photo - Muslim believers leaving from mosque after noon prayer. At time of prosperity and wealth, one do not forget God the all Bountiful.
