The Li River of Yangshuo
If I would come back to Li River again, I will spend time on the river -
to swim, rafting, boating and to wonder about on that rocky bed in the mid of the river...

狶ㄤ郡跋春:
1)纒辫バ
2)砍艶措
3)戈簘瑈

This is what one see in many of the Chinese works of art.

Despite the lack of wildlife in the cities, here we see numerous birds, including white ducks and eagles, and bamboo forests, people fishing with poles from quaint bamboo rafts including men and women on bamboo rafts using cormorants to catch fish, some rafts are poled down the river while some have a small engine, yaks in fields, water buffalo grazing the river bottom, attractive river villages, women washing clothes by hand on the bank, cliffs rising up thousand feet and a numerous tourist boats.

A Li River cruise offers great perspective into Guilinˇs limestone mountains which were formed hundreds of millions of years ago, when the entire area was underwater in a shallow salty sea. Over time, the salt water dissolved and wore away at the limestone floor, creating peaks and valleys. As the earthˇs crust shifted over many millions of years, the karst mountains were raised above sea level and subsequent erosion by wind and waves sculpted the hills into the unique topography we can see today in Guilin.

The best time to take a Li River cruise is in the fall when temperatures are not as high as in summer, making Guilin more comfortable to bike, hike, and explore. Nevertheless, Guilin is also nice to visit in the summer; and an ample supply of streams and rivers enable you to jump in to cool down when needed. Winter can be chilly and spring is quite rainy, but the scenery can still be appreciated during those seasons.

The town of Yangshuo (not Guilin City, as might be expected) is the jumping-off point for many Li River cruises. In addition to rafting, Guilin tours can be arranged to some of the impressive limestone caves hidden in the mountainswith amazing stalactite and stalagmite formations, as well as hot springs and mud bathsavailable to explore.

The river is slow and wide in the second section.

Yangshuo is popular for its incredible karst scenery,  beautiful mountains, rivers, caves, and temples as well as its laid back cafes and bars. As a result, there is no shortage of tourists, ex-pats, and other foreigners.

Yangshuo  does not have the big-city feel as in most other Chinese cities. It is more like a vacation town, with wonderful restaurants and shops. Yangshuo has a reputation as a foreignersˇ village in Southern China and is a major stop on the trail of many independent travelers.

Most foreign-oriented businesses, such as hostels, hotels, rock climbing companies, restaurants and entertainment venues, are situated on West Street or the pedestrian only Xian Qian Street which runs between Chinese Street  and West Street.

The Li River in Guangxi Province flows through Guilin and Yangshuo, down into the western tributary of Pearl River in Wuzhou.

This is a great habitat for the fish, birds, animals, and insects to thrive. Night time Cormorants and their masters are found fishing the waters in their own unique way: well documented on an advert on our screens at home; this truly is a magnificent experience to behold.

Small town of Yangshuo with its cobblestone streets, and street cafes, with a real holiday feel about them.

Much of this part of China is shrouded in fog year round, but that added to the mystique of the river. Looking around I could envision farmers and fishermen navigating these waters thousands of years ago.

Scenery offered by the river and its peaks, its water buffalos patrolling the fields, its rice paddies, and its fishermen on bamboo rafts.

Yangshuo is a place for hiking, cycling and rock climbing.

You can also go flotting  down the river on bamboo rafts.

This wonderful Li River twists and turns amongst its unique landscape of limestone pinnacles rising through the mist.

The rivers edge is dressed with the bambooˇs branches floating in gentle breeze, peeping through the mist, dancing like a maidens hair floating and tossing her tresses.

The water of Li river is more charming then the hills and mountains. As you may notice in most of my photos I focused on the crispy clear water of the Li River.

If I would come back to Li River again, I will spend time on the river - to swim, rafting, boating and to wonder about on the rocky bed in the mid of the river

The river and the strong humidity of the zone have eroded the calcaric stone on fanciful shapes, and the green forest climbs up the steep slopes of the hills up to the very top.

Guilin is blessed with wonderful scenery, where rivers and karst peaks covered in lush greenery.  Yangshuo town is part of Guilin

When  asked to recommend beautiful natural scenery to see, most Chinese people certainly think of Guilin,  as the ancient Chinese saying.

Even the Chinese Malaysian who never set foot in China will mention Guilin as a beautiful place, this is what they learn from their Chinese text book in Chinese classes that "Guilin landscape is best(狶ヒぱ)"
