From Tawau to Kota Kinabalu

Wong Fook Foong

Before we leave for the airport, we have a group photo of the two families.

Uncle Yee's family is at the left and Uncle Foong's family is at the right hand side. This is the first visit to Tawau of Uncle Foong family.

Our neighbor opposite send us to the airport. He has new AVANZA that is big enough for 7 of us to squeeze into . We share his petrol cost.

Tawau To: Kota Kinabalu
Flight: Malaysia Airlines MH2134
Depart Tawau : Wed, 09 Dec, 14:40

Aircraft: Boeing 737-400
Arrive Kota Kinabalu : Wed, 09 Dec, 15:30

Our flight scheduled to depart at 2:40pm. As departure time approach, there is still no sight of our Boeing yet. Finally the plane arrived from Kota Kinabalu at 2:30pm. We managed to depart at 3:20pm. A delay of almost half hours. But it does not matter to us. We are in holiday mood, we have plenty of time.

Good bye Tawau!

Out MAS Boeing 737 finally lift of the ground at 3:24 pm.

Hello Kota Kinabalu!

Finally we touched down in Kota Kinabalu. We were in the air for merely an half hour. This is Terminal 2 (photo above) but we disembark in Terminal 1.

See the wing of the plan is facing down functioning as a wind block in braking the speed in slowing down the plan.

Kota Kinabalu International Airport Terminal 1 has seen a lot of redevelopment lately, which is improving the airport considerably. Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) is only 8 km from  Kota Kinabalu City. This is the second busiest airport in Malaysia after Kuala Lumpur International Airport. In 2007, 2.5 million unique tourists visited Sabah through KKIA.

From the airport we rent a car from BORNEO EXPRESS and head straight along new Papar Road to find Seaside Travellers Inn. This 1,300 cc Myvy autogear became our mean of transport for the rest of the week.

Uncle Yee asked us all to keep a lookout for any signpost showing the direction of Seaside Travellers Inn. After about half an hour, we spotted a sign board written 'Selamat Datang Ke SEASIDE TRAVELLERS INN'. We made a sharp turn to the left and we finally reached the inn.

We booked weeks earlier 2 rooms for today in this Seaside Travellers Inn  Tel: 088-750555

We went out of the car and went in the lobby to check in two rooms for two families. There are several swallows' nest hanging at the lobby ceiling.

That night, we just walk up to the inn restaurant for dinner. We are served with hearty delicious meals. While eating we can listen to the melodious sound of the ocean waves clashing into shores.

Sweet and sour fish rice is Rm10.50, Sambal Prawn Rice is Rm11.50, Fried Rice is Rm6.50
